Civil infrastructure
Roads, intersections, pavements and streetscapes for developments and councils, designed to the council's standard drawings and detailed for construction.
What Method delivers
Designed to the council's standard, built once
Roads and streets are what a development hands back to the council, so they are designed to the council’s own standard drawings from the start. Method designs the geometry, grading and drainage, the pavement to Austroads and relevant authority standards for the subgrade and the traffic it will carry, and the kerbs, footpaths and streetscape elements the contractor will build. For councils, the same team prepares road renewal, traffic calming and intersection upgrade packages.

Client questions
What clients ask first
What pavement thickness does a council road or a car park need?
It depends on the subgrade and the traffic, not on a rule of thumb. The pavement is designed to Austroads from the subgrade CBR in the geotechnical investigation and the design traffic over the pavement’s life. A residential street, a collector road and a car park all come out differently, and a car park that takes waste trucks is designed for them. Many councils also set a minimum pavement in their standard drawings, and the design meets whichever is greater.
Can the design follow the council’s standard drawings?
Yes, and it should. Councils publish standard drawings for kerbs, pits, driveways, pavement and footpaths, and works that follow them are approved faster and handed over without argument. Method designs to the standard drawings of the council the works go back to. Where a site needs a departure, for example a steep driveway or a tight turning head, it is flagged and agreed with council before the drawings are issued.
